What you need:
- Mirka 1437 rotary polisher
- Double-sided lambswool pad
- Adapter
- 150 mm waffle foam pad
- 150 mm polishing pad with Velcro
- Mirka Polarshine 45 (coarse polishing)
- Mirka Polarshine 5 (fine polishing)
- Mirka Polarshine Final Finish (finish and protection)
- Mirka Deep Clean Gelcoat Cleaner
- Microfiber cloths
Step-by-step guide:
- Cleaning: Start by washing the boat thoroughly with Mirka Deep Clean Gelcoat Cleaner to remove dirt, salt and algae. Rinse with clean water.
- Coarse polishing: Apply Mirka Polarshine 45 to the lambswool pad and polish the boat surface in circular motions. This step removes oxidation and scratches.
- Fine polishing: Switch to the waffle foam pad and 150 mm polishing pad. Apply Mirka Polarshine 5 and polish the boat again to remove any remaining scratches and achieve a smooth surface.
- Finish and protection: Wipe the boat with microfiber cloths and apply Mirka Polarshine Final Finish. This gives a nice shine and protects the gelcoat from the elements.
Tips and tricks:
- Work in small areas at a time to ensure even polishing.
- Keep the polisher moving to avoid overheating the gelcoat.
- Use a low speed on the polisher to avoid splashing.
- Always remember to read the product's safety instructions before use.
