3M Super 77 multipurpose spray adhesive is a solvent-based aerosol adhesive with a 500 ml content for permanent bonding. The adhesive is based on synthetic elastomer and is applied directly from the aerosol can in a fine mist pattern, eliminating the need for separate application tools.
The spray adhesive has high initial tack and can be used on materials including rubber, metal, carpet, expanded foam, cardboard, felt, textile, and wood. It is also suitable for paper, corrugated cardboard, upholstery foam, plastic, polystyrene, insulation materials, mineral wool, glass wool, fiberglass fabric, cork, laminates, decorative veneers, as well as thin film and foil.
The spray width can be adjusted to suit the task. Limited penetration into porous materials provides time for positioning, and items can be repositioned during assembly when the adhesive is applied to both surfaces. The adhesive is intended for a durable bond and does not damage the foam structure.
The setting time is 1–60 seconds, while the open time is 1–15 minutes. The documented bonding window is 15 seconds to 30 minutes after application. The application temperature range is –30 to 60 °C, and the heat resistance is 66 °C.
The product has a solids content of approximately 25% by weight, a relative density of approximately 0.7, and a kinematic viscosity of 286 mm²/s. The shelf life is 18 months when stored correctly. The can must be protected from sunlight and stored in a well-ventilated area away from heat, sources of ignition, acids, and strong oxidizing agents. The aerosol can must not be exposed to temperatures above 50 °C.
The spray adhesive is classified as an extremely flammable aerosol and the container is pressurized. It can cause skin irritation, drowsiness, or dizziness and is toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects. The transport classification is UN1950, hazard class 2.1. Universal cleaner for adhesive, item no. 65.309.99, is a documented supplementary product for removing substances such as adhesive residue, wax, grease, oil, and tar.
