Aquatic AV MP5+ waterproof marine media player AQ-MP-5UBT-S is a digital stereo receiver for 12 V installations in boats and other exposed environments. It combines AM/FM radio, Bluetooth, USB, iPod/iPhone, MP3, AUX, and SiriusXM Ready in a DIN-mounted unit with a detachable front and a 3" color display.
The color display can show album artwork and supports searching by playlist, album, song, genre, composer, and audiobook, among others, during compatible Apple and USB playback. iAP Bluetooth can transmit song, playlist, and album information from compatible Apple devices, while the internal illuminated dock protects and stores a media device of up to 107 × 184 mm. The USB connections can be used for charging simultaneously.
The built-in class A/B amplifier delivers a maximum of 4 × 45 W at 4 Ω or 4 × 72 W at 2 Ω. Dual Zone/Dual Source allows for separate source and zone control. Sound features include DSP EQ, bass/treble, balance/fader, loudness, and XBS. For external amplifiers and a subwoofer, there are two 4 V stereo RCA pre-out pairs as well as a 4 V RCA subwoofer output.
Connections include an internal USB port, external USB connection, 3.5 mm stereo AUX jack, stereo RCA AUX input, AM/FM antenna input, SiriusXM input, and an 8-pin DIN connection for the AQ-WR-5F remote control. Two external 12 V trigger outputs can be loaded with up to 350 mA. For higher loads, a relay must be used.
The AM/FM tuner has 18 FM and 12 AM presets, as well as selectable US and European frequency settings. SiriusXM reception requires a separate SiriusXM Connect Vehicle Tuner and a subscription where the service is available. The frequency response is 20 Hz-20 kHz.
The front measures 214.4 × 69.8 mm, and the installation depth is 188.6 mm. The front is made of ABS, while the chassis and mounting components are made of stainless steel. The circuit board has a conformal coating, and the construction is tested for 500 hours of UV exposure according to ASTM D4329 and 500 hours of salt spray according to ASTM B117.
The player is mounted using a DIN cage, front screws, and a rear support. The mounting surface must be clean and level so that the front gasket can seal properly, and RCA cables should be routed separately from power and speaker cables. The speaker load must not be lower than 2 Ω. The package contains the AQ-UNH-2 wiring harness, AQ-USB-1 surface-mount USB socket, DIN cage, dust cover, and mounting hardware.
