This ATI MB electric mini water heater for boats is the MB60 model with a capacity of 6 liters. It is designed for the production of domestic hot water from a 12 V DC system and features a 300 W electric heating element with a nominal current draw of 25 A. Heating from 15 to 45 °C takes approximately 42 minutes.
The inner tank is made of AISI 316L stainless steel, while the impact-resistant outer casing is made of pre-painted SIMILINOX aluminum. The tank is insulated with closed-cell polyurethane foam, which limits heat loss. The insulation is free of HFC, CFC, HCFC, and HFA, and the Incoloy heating element is designed for electric heating of domestic water.
The water heater measures 459 mm in length and 190 mm in diameter. It is mounted with two adjustable brackets in AISI 304 stainless steel. Three mounting positions are approved, but position C is discouraged due to reduced heating efficiency. Mounting on an inclined surface is possible when the heating element is placed in the lower part.
The cold water inlet and hot water outlet have 1/2" connections. The permissible inlet pressure is 0.5-1.5 bar, and the tank's maximum pressure is 2.0 bar. The included combined safety and non-return valve must be installed on the cold water inlet. The valve drain must be connected to a hose with a 9.5 mm internal diameter and must not be closed or blocked.
The external TSR thermostat uses a sensor which is inserted into the tank's sensor pocket. The temperature can be set to 30, 40, 50, 60, or 70 °C. The heating element is activated approximately 5 °C below and deactivated approximately 5 °C above the selected temperature. A thermostatic mixing valve must be installed on the hot water network to reduce the risk of scalding.
The water heater is supplied with mounting brackets, the bracket bolt/nut set, flat washers, a combined safety and non-return valve, clips for the thermostat sensor, and a separate thermostat box. The tank must be completely filled with water before the heating element is connected to power. Installation must be performed by a qualified person, and the power supply must be disconnected before service.
For stable operation, the domestic water must have a hardness of 10-25 °f, pH 6-8, a maximum of 200 mg/l chloride, and a conductivity of no more than 2,500 µS/cm. The product is intended for nautical use and can also be used in relevant 12 V installations in recreational vehicles.
