AUTOTERM Marine Small Set diesel air heater Air 2D is a stand-alone 12 V heating system for heating and dehumidifying cabins and other enclosed spaces. The heater runs on diesel or HVO100 and operates independently of the boat or vehicle engine. The marine configuration is primarily intended for boats but can also be used in campervans, motorhomes, and other vehicles.
The heat output can be regulated from 0.8 to 2.0 kW, while the heated air volume is between 34 and 86 m³/h. Fuel consumption is 0.10–0.24 l/hour, and the electrical power consumption during operation is 10–29 W. The brushless induction motor contributes to a low noise level, and integrated sensors and fail-safe functions can automatically shut down the heater if a fault is detected.
The heater itself measures 310 × 119 × 145 mm and weighs 2.9 kg. The inlet and outlet for cabin air are Ø68 mm, and the recommended minimum air duct diameter is Ø60 mm. The combustion air intake is Ø25 mm, while the exhaust outlet is Ø24 mm. There must be a minimum of 50 mm of free space at the hot air intake, 150 mm at the hot air outlet, and 60 mm above the unit.
The heater must be mounted on a flat surface and protected from seawater, rainwater, and condensate. Combustion air must be taken from a well-ventilated area or from the outside and must not be drawn from living quarters, engine rooms, or cargo holds. The distance between the combustion air intake and exhaust must be at least 20 cm, and the exhaust gases must be led overboard. When distributing air to multiple cabins, at least one hot air outlet must always be open to prevent overheating.
Air 2D is recommended for boats of 7–9 m in a Nordic climate and 8–10 m in a Mediterranean climate. The operating temperature is −45 °C to +55 °C. Current high-altitude control supports operation up to 4,200 meters above sea level. The heater is approved according to UN/ECE Regulation No. 122 and No. 10 with the E2-122 and E2-10R markings.
The marine set comes with a fuel pump wire, fuel metering pump, air intake pipe with silencer, 1.8 m control panel cable, Ø24 mm thermal insulation, exhaust silencer with mounting kit, 1 m exhaust pipe, 1.5 m nylon fuel line, and mounting bracket. A control panel is required for operation and is selected separately. A digital panel is available as item no. 50.251.01 and an analog panel as 50.251.11. Item no. 50.251.12 is a 5 m extension cable, and the maximum total cable length is 11.8 m. Air distribution kits with two and three outlets, respectively, are available as 50.252.62 and 50.252.63. Ø24 mm exhaust adapters are available as 50.255.01, 50.255.02, and 50.255.03.
