This air heater control panel is an analog AUTOTERM PU-5 panel, also known as Simple Control. The panel is used for manual control of compatible AUTOTERM Air heaters in both 12 V and 24 V systems.
The operation consists of a rotary dial and two separate push buttons for heating and ventilation, respectively. The rotary dial sets the fan speed during ventilation, the heating power from minimum to maximum in power mode, or the desired temperature when a compatible external room temperature sensor is connected. The panel does not have a digital display or a documented timer function.
Two LED indicators show the operating status for heating and ventilation. Heating operation is indicated by a constant yellow light, the cool-down phase by a rapidly flashing yellow light, and faults by a slowly flashing red light. Faults from the heater are displayed as blink sequences and can be reset by pressing any button.
Without an external temperature sensor, the air heater operates continuously at the selected power level. With a compatible sensor, the system can regulate the heating power according to the difference between the desired and the current room temperature. The possible temperature selection goes up to 30 °C, while the lower limit is 1 °C or 15 °C depending on the heater's model, software, and year of manufacture.
The panel is intended for surface mounting and is attached with one self-tapping screw. The wiring harness is routed through a Ø 7.5 mm hole, while the screw hole is Ø 3.5 mm. The center distance between the two holes is 16.4 ± 0.2 mm. The panel measures 50 × 36 × 18 mm.
Compatible air heaters
The panel is compatible with AUTOTERM Air 2D, Air 4D, Air 8D, and Air 9D in 12 V and 24 V versions. Ventilation mode is not supported by air heaters produced on November 16, 2016, or earlier. Temperature control and ventilation during heating require a compatible external temperature sensor.
The optional 5 m extension cable with item no. 50.251.12 can be used for the panel. The maximum compatible cable length is 11.8 m, composed of a 1.8 m standard cable and two 5 m extension cables. The cables are not documented as being included with this panel.
The panel connector must not be connected or disconnected while the heater is running. After switching off, you should wait at least 5–10 seconds before restarting, and the power supply must not be disconnected until the heater's cool-down phase has been completed.
