Bomar watertight cast aluminum inspection hatch is an oval, low-profile deck hatch in the Commercial Grade Series, model C41524. It provides watertight access to areas below deck and is designed for flush mounting in boat decks and for demanding commercial marine applications.
The hatch and frame are manufactured from cast Almag-35 aluminum with a natural, brushed finish. The T-handle and fasteners are made of marine-grade 316L stainless steel. The non-hinged lid can be fully removed, and the hatch can be opened from both the inside and outside.
The central spider locking mechanism activates four locking points around the lid. The construction is tested to withstand water pressure equivalent to a 10 m water column and is suitable where secure access is required to, for example, wiring, fuel systems, or other critical components below deck.
The clear opening is 380 × 610 mm, the nominal mounting cutout is 450 × 680 mm, and the outer dimensions are 552 × 774 mm. The hatch extends 127 mm below the deck, while the lid, according to the technical drawing, sits 9.53 mm above the deck surface. Always check the delivered hatch and the associated drawing before cutting, as drawing dimensions differ slightly from nominal catalog dimensions.
The hatch is CE-certified in relation to Directive 2013/53/EU and Lloyd’s-certified. A steel weld-in ring and powder coating are available as manufacturer options, but are not documented as included.
