This fire port for engine compartments provides access with a handheld fire extinguisher to a closed engine compartment or engine box without first opening the larger engine hatch. This allows extinguishing agent to be fed directly into the compartment through a permanently installed access port.
The port has an outer diameter of 68 mm and is mounted in a Ø45 mm hole. This variant is designed with a white plastic mounting flange and is intended for permanent installation in the bulkhead of the engine compartment or engine box.
The opening is sealed with a watertight, penetrable PVC membrane. In the event of a fire, the nozzle or hose of the fire extinguisher is pushed through the membrane so that the extinguishing agent can be applied without opening the engine compartment. The fire port is a passive access port and does not in itself constitute a fire extinguisher or a complete fire extinguishing system.
The product is manufactured in accordance with Directive 2013/53/EU and ISO 9094-2. No requirements are specified for a particular fire extinguisher model or a specific nozzle or hose diameter.
