Bulgin Buccaneer panel-mount socket with female contacts is a 9-pole circular socket for fixed panel mounting. Model PX0769/S is designed with a square low-profile flange and four mounting holes, and it is compatible with the cable-mount 9-pole male plug, item no. 14.350.09, corresponding to Bulgin PX0728/P.
The socket is rated for up to 5 A and 150 V AC/DC. The nine loose crimp contacts are fitted to the conductors before insertion into the contact insert and are sized for conductor cross-sections of 0.14–0.25 mm² or 24–26 AWG. The contacts are made of tin-plated copper alloy. The contact resistance is less than 10 mΩ, while the insulation resistance is over 10⁴ MΩ at 500 V DC.
The housing is made of glass-filled polyamide, and the contact insert is made of polyamide with a UL94 V-0 fire rating. The socket has IP68 and IP69K classification; IP68 applies when correctly mated with a compatible connector. The design is tested to a water depth of 10 meters for two weeks and 100 meters for 12 hours. It is also tested against cyclic salt mist according to EN 60068-2-52, test Kb, Marine Severity Level 1.
The flange measures 44.5 × 44.5 mm, and the mounting hole center distance is 33.3 × 33.3 mm. Installation requires a panel cutout of Ø20.2 mm and four mounting holes of Ø3.8 mm. The front projection from the flange is 16 mm, the coupling ring measures Ø38.1 mm, and the variant-specific dimension A is 9.6 mm. A sealing gasket and sealing washers for the mounting screws are included. The recommended tightening torque is 0.34 Nm with the supplied washers.
Connection is achieved via screw/threaded coupling, and mechanical guide slots prevent incorrect orientation. The female contact insert is connected to the supply side, while the mating male plug is connected to the appliance side. The connector must not be mated or unmated under electrical load. Gaskets and sealing rings must be fitted correctly and kept clean to maintain the seal.
A waterproof protective cap is included to protect the socket when not in use. The product is RoHS compliant and holds CSA, UL, and VDE approvals. The operating temperature is from -20 °C to +70 °C.
