Bulgin Buccaneer external female connector with waterproof cap is a 9-pole, circular electrical connector for external flange mounting. It is designed for waterproof power and signal connections in marine, outdoor, and industrial installations and features a polarized design that prevents incorrect mating.
The connector is rated for max. 5 A and 150 V AC/DC. The nine female/socket contacts are crimp-terminated and are made of tin-plated copper alloy. Loose crimp contacts for 0.14–0.25 mm² conductors, equivalent to 24–26 AWG, are included.
The housing is made of glass-filled polyamide with a contact insert of polyamide. The design has an IP68 and IP69K rating. The IP68 protection applies when mated with a compatible plug or with the included waterproof cap fitted. The IP68 test includes submersion at a water depth of 10 meters for two weeks and 100 meters for 12 hours. The operating temperature is −20 °C to +70 °C.
The square flange measures 44.5 × 44.5 mm and is mounted with four Ø 3.8 mm holes. The center distance between the mounting holes is 33.3 mm both horizontally and vertically. The total installation depth is 43 mm, while the diameter across the coupling ring is 38.1 mm. A flange gasket and sealing washers for the mounting screws are included.
The connection uses a Standard Buccaneer screw coupling and mates directly with the 9-pole male cable plug item no. 14.350.09, equivalent to Bulgin PX0728/P. The flange screws should be tightened to 0.34 Nm, while the sealing cap or coupling ring should be tightened to 1.13 Nm. The connector is CSA, UL, and VDE approved and meets RoHS requirements.
