This Bulgin Standard Buccaneer male cable connector is a circular, free-hanging cable-mount connector with 9 male/pin contacts. The variant is rated for up to 5 A and 150 V AC/DC and is used in conjunction with a compatible 9-pole female socket in the PX07 Standard Buccaneer series.
The connector features crimp termination for conductors of 0.14–0.25 mm², corresponding to 24–26 AWG. The nine tin-plated copper alloy crimp contacts are supplied loose and installed into the contact insert during assembly. Contact resistance is less than 10 mΩ, insulation resistance is over 10⁴ MΩ at 500 V DC, and the dielectric withstanding voltage between contacts is 4 kV.
The free cable mount is combined with a threaded screw coupling and alignment keys, which ensure correct orientation during mating. The standard version PX0728/P is designed for cables with a diameter of 6–8 mm. The cable gland nut is tightened to 1.13 Nm.
The housing is made of glass-filled polyamide with a UL94 HB fire rating. The contact insert is made of polyamide, while the connector, insert, and cable nut are black. The connector has a maximum overall length of 69.0 mm depending on cable diameter and a diameter of 38.1 mm over the coupling ring.
When correctly mated with a compatible counterpart, the connection is rated to IP68 and IP69K. IP68 is tested according to EN 60529:1992+A2:2013, while IP69K is tested according to DIN 40050, part 9/IP6K9K. The IP68 test includes 10 meters of water depth for two weeks, and the design is also tested at a water depth of 100 meters for 12 hours. When the connector is not mated, a suitable sealing cap is required to maintain the protection rating.
The operating temperature is −20 °C to +70 °C. The connector is salt mist tested according to EN 60068-2-52, test Kb, Marine Severity Level 1, and carries CSA, UL, and VDE approvals, as well as RoHS compliance.
Compatible female sockets
The connector can be mated with compatible inline and panel-mount female sockets in the PX07 Standard Buccaneer series. Documented counterparts are the 9-pole bulkhead-mount female socket 14.360.09, model PX0762/S, and the 9-pole low-profile female socket 14.370.09, model PX0769/S.
Related accessories
Sealing cap PX0734 can be used when the connector is not mated. Crimp tool 13826 is designed for the 9-contact version. The standard cable gland 12023 fits cables of 6–8 mm; alternative cable glands are available for other cable diameters but are not documented as included.
