This Carling Contura II water-resistant rocker switch is an illuminated, double-pole switch mechanism for panel mounting. This variant operates with 12 V illumination, features the (ON)-OFF-(ON) switching function, and is equipped with 8 terminals.
The switch has three positions with center-OFF and momentary ON function in both directions. The parentheses around ON indicate spring return, meaning the switch automatically returns to the center position when the rocker is released. The design is suitable for up/down or forward/reverse control, where the equipment should only be active while the switch is being held.
Recommended applications include trim tabs, hydraulic pumps, and windlasses. The double-pole switching function allows for the control of relevant 12 V systems with two momentary directions. The switch can also be used for operating a single Dudge 77 electric table leg.
The switch features two separate white 12 V bulbs. One illuminates the symbol and can be connected as constant orientation lighting so the switch can be found in the dark. The other functions as an indicator light and illuminates the slot below the symbol when the connected function is activated. On this momentary variant, the ON-illumination is linked to the activated function.
The ingress protection rating is IP56, and the maximum current capacity is 20 A at 12 V. The switch is mounted in a rectangular panel cutout of 21.5 × 36.8 mm.
The product is supplied as a switch mechanism without a symbol rocker. The appropriate rocker must be ordered separately based on function and desired finish. Documented options include item no. 14.193.04 with trim tab symbol, 14.193.14 with windlass symbol, and 14.193.09 without symbol. For single mounting, black frame 14.197.03 or white frame 14.197.63 can be used.
