This illuminated symbol actuator for Carling Contura II rocker switch is a loose, replaceable rocker actuator with a horn symbol. The Type B variant has a black, hard surface and is intended for compatible Carling Technologies V-Series switch bases.
The horn symbol, white square lens, and indicator area are translucent. They are illuminated by the lamp or LED in the underlying switch base, so the actuator itself has no light source, wiring, voltage, or electrical switching function. The indicator area can be used as a status display when the switch base's lighting circuit is connected accordingly.
The Contura II design is convex and has two rows of raised grip bumps at both ends. The construction consists of a thermoplastic polycarbonate base with a hard Nylon 66 overlay and a polycarbonate lens. The actuator measures 49.09 × 23.88 mm.
The actuator clicks directly onto a compatible V-Series switch base and can be removed and replaced separately. This makes it suitable for replacing an existing switch cap or changing the function label in marine, vehicle, and industrial panels. The complete switch's electrical data, lighting color, and ingress protection rating are determined by the switch base and installation.
Switch base 14.194.50 has an OFF-(ON) function and is intended for horns, but comes already equipped with an actuator. This horn-marked actuator can therefore be used as a replacement actuator or a spare panel component. The Carling VRT tool can be used for removing Contura actuators.
