This CEF Marine water pump impeller for Mercury/Mariner is a flexible replacement impeller for the cooling water pump on selected 2-stroke outboard motors with 4, 4.5, 7.5, 8, 9.8, or 10 hp. The impeller circulates cooling water through the engine's cooling system and replaces Mercury/Mariner OEM no. 47-65957 and 47-89981.
The impeller is made of black neoprene and has six flexible blades. It has a shaft bore of 11.6 mm, an outer diameter of 32 mm, and an axial width of 14.4 mm. The drive is designed for a woodruff key or impeller key.
The product is supplied as a loose impeller and is not a complete water pump or service kit. A gasket and impeller key are not listed as included. The corresponding impeller key in the matching pump design has OEM no. 28-56655.
Compatible engine models
The current variant is intended for Mercury/Mariner 2-stroke outboards of 4, 4.5, 7.5, 8, 9.8, and 10 hp. For the Mercury 4 hp, documented serial number ranges are 2498136–3296136 as well as 5595532 and later. US-produced 4 hp single-cylinder engines include serial numbers 7143688, 8068065, and 9258281 and later.
For the Mercury 4.5 hp, documented serial number ranges include 4107220–5595531 as well as 5595532 and later. US-produced 4.5 hp single-cylinder engines include serial numbers 7143688, 8068065, and 9258281 and later. For 7.5 hp, the ranges are 2529895–3274632 as well as 5206650, 7125388, 8057545, and 9217756 and later. For 9.8 hp, the ranges are 1865779–5206549 as well as 5206550, 7125388, 8057545, and 9217756 and later.
The 11.6 mm shaft bore is an important identification measurement. The impeller must not be confused with CEF 500314/OEM 47-89980, which has an 11 mm bore. The safest choice is made by matching the OEM number, engine serial number, shaft bore, outer diameter, width, and number of blades.
