Description
RELAX. CORTEX IS ON THE LOOKOUT FULL TIME.
The Cortex M1 hub combines advanced collision avoidance technology with proactive alerting and remote monitoring and control of embedded systems from your compatible smartphone.
A fast smartAIS transponder transmits the boat's position and course and proactively warns of certain collision threats.
In addition to collision alarms, smartAIS triggers alarms in anchor drag situations or if someone falls overboard.
This hub comes VHF ready. Simply add a Cortex handset (sold separately) for full VHF radio functionality.
Cortex apps allow you to monitor boat systems, receive alerts, and remotely control devices from your compatible smartphone.
A GPIO port and the included cable allow you to monitor bilge pumps, safety sensors, shore power and much more.
NMEA 2000® networking allows you to display Cortex data on your connected MFDs and chartplotters.
Smart Logic AIS helps you make better decisions.
AVOID COLLISION
The Cortex M1 is a full-featured Class B SOTDMA transceiver that combines GPS, AIS and heading data with intelligent logic to proactively warn you of specific collision risks with alarms or spoken alerts that escalate until acknowledged. AIS vessel information (name, heading and relative position) is continuously provided using AIS information broadcast from other vessels.
ANCHOR GUARD
Using the actual anchor position from the bow and the built-in Cortex heading sensor, smartAIS tracks the boat’s movement and issues an alarm if the anchor is dragged, or if there is a change in wind speed, direction or water depth. When you’re on your boat, you can get alerts on your compatible mobile device via the Cortex Onboard app – or via the Cortex Monitor app when you’re ashore.
MAN OVERBOARD
Cortex smartAIS continuously monitors for MOB (man overboard) activations and issues an alarm when it detects one. MOB can be activated manually via the Cortex Onboard app for smart devices or automatically from an AIS MOB beacon – initiating a traceback mode to speed up the rescue.
DIRECTIONAL VOICE ALARMS
In the event of a collision alert, Cortex will announce the direction of a collision threat, such as “collision warning, starboard bow.” Instead of an ambiguous beep like other AIS systems, Cortex tells users what the alert means and what direction the threat is.
MONITORING AND CONTROL
Check your boat's status, receive alerts, and operate devices with Cortex remote monitoring access using the Cortex handset (sold separately) or Cortex apps for smartphones. Connect up to 5 external sensors directly to your system for additional monitoring functionality.
CORTEX MONITOR APP
Subscribe to a Premium Cortex Monitor plan to receive alerts, view real-time information about your boat, and remotely control devices such as air conditioning, lighting, refrigeration or ice machines using the Cortex Monitor app on your compatible smartphone.
CORTEX ONBOARD APP
While on your boat, the Cortex Onboard app can serve as your primary interface with your Cortex M1 hub, allowing you to monitor boat statistics, receive alerts, view instrument data, and display AIS screens on your compatible mobile device.
MAKE YOUR INTENTIONS CLEAR
Broadcast built-in heading to other vessels via AIS transmissions so they can more accurately track their closest point to you and then change course to avoid you.
NETWORK CONNECTION
Cortex can receive and output information via NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 networks, making it compatible with most modern chartplotters and multifunction displays.
Robust technology for harsh maritime environments.
ROBUST, DURABLE DESIGN
Water-rated to IPX7 standards, the Cortex hub's thermal polymer housing is heat and corrosion resistant – so it can be securely mounted almost anywhere on board.
LOW POWER CONSUMPTION
Designed to have a minimal power consumption of just 500mA, the Cortex hub can stay on at all times to keep you informed. It will alert you even when your MFD is off – ideal if you need to conserve power when at anchor or on a long voyage.
GALVANIC ISOLATION
Galvanically isolated ports and internal components protect your Cortex hub and connected equipment from electrical shorts and circuit damage in the corrosive marine environment.
MULTI-CONSTELLATION GNSS
With fast 10Hz GPS updates that accompany your vessel, your vessel's position is plotted using multiple global satellite networks. When you connect other devices to your Cortex GPS using NMEA 2000 or NMEA 0183, all onboard equipment benefits from Cortex's super-fast GPS capability.
Monitoring and connectivity that gives peace of mind.
MONITOR SYSTEMS
View status and history of built-in and connected sensors. Monitor bilge, safety, power, and other instruments. Set alarms and alarm limits, review data history, and find out when the sensor was last active.
BUILT-IN SENSORS
GPS, heading sensor, battery sensor and barometer provide valuable live information on and off the boat as soon as you connect and configure your Cortex system.
NETWORK SENSORS
Simply connect to your boat's NMEA 2000 network to monitor1 factors like wind speed and direction or water depth from your other onboard devices.
EXTERNAL SENSORS
Only your imagination sets the limits – connect with sensors to monitor activity and level, shore power, security systems and more (external sensors sold separately).
CORTEX MONITOR APP
Download the Cortex Monitor app from the Apple® or Google™ app store and use your smartphone or tablet to monitor your vessel and receive alerts1.
GEO-FENCING
We leverage the power of the Cortex Monitor app for smart devices and know where your boat is based on the information sent from your boat – and whether it’s where it should be1. Get an alert if it moves outside a designated area.
CONTROL UNITS
Connect with the Cortex Monitor app to remotely control devices such as lights, air conditioners, and ice makers on your boat by connecting them to your Cortex system.
REAL-TIME UPDATES
Cortex sends updates to the cloud, so you can receive status information and alerts directly on your compatible smartphone or tablet.
