This CRC 6-66 Marine corrosion protection marine lubricant is a 400 ml multifunctional spray for lubrication, moisture displacement, and protection against corrosion in maritime and saline environments. The product penetrates fine cracks and tight spaces, loosens rusty and oxidized parts, and leaves an oily, almost invisible protective film.
The formulation is based on paraffin oil and a multi-component system of organic corrosion inhibitors. The low surface tension and high capillary action help the liquid penetrate pores, joints, and mechanical connections. The film displaces moisture and forms a continuous barrier against water and oxygen, while lubricating, reducing friction, and counteracting squeaking.
The spray can be used on marine engines, ignition systems, distributors, cables, plugs, switches, battery terminals, generators, control panels, and other electrical or mechanical equipment. It is also suitable for winches, anchor windlasses, shackles, rigging parts, furling systems, locks, hinges, nuts, bolts, and fishing gear, as well as for protection during storage and winter lay-up. The product displaces moisture and saline electrolytes without insulating electrical contacts and contains no silicone.
The product protects metals and alloys and can be used on, among other things, steel, chrome, and coated and painted surfaces. It is compatible with most painted surfaces, coatings, plastics, and rubbers, but compatibility should be tested on sensitive materials and unknown coatings. Before painting or other finishing, the oily film must be removed with a suitable solvent-based or alkaline degreaser.
Apply a light and even layer for general lubrication and surface protection. Rusty or stuck parts should be treated liberally and given time to penetrate; full penetration can take several hours. On wet surfaces, apply the product until the run-off liquid is free of water. Equipment that has been submerged in seawater must first be rinsed with fresh water. Use the product in a well-ventilated area and never apply it to energized equipment.
The liquid is clear and blue-green with a density of 0.83 at 20 °C. The average film thickness after 24 hours at 20 °C is 2 µm, and the theoretical coverage is up to 100 m²/l. The product withstands up to 120 °C during operation and up to 150 °C for short periods.
