This CRC 6-66 Marine multi-purpose lubricant and corrosion inhibitor is a 200 ml aerosol spray for lubrication, moisture displacement, and protection against rust and corrosion in marine and saline environments.
The product displaces water and moisture and forms a continuous, oily, and nearly invisible protective film. The film shields the surface against water and oxygen, penetrates fine pores and cracks, and provides protection both during operation and winter storage. The spray can also loosen rusted parts, reduce friction, and prevent squeaking.
CRC 6-66 Marine can be used on items including engines, ignition systems, battery terminals, cables, plugs, switches, antennas, generators, electrical connections, nuts, bolts, locks, hinges, winches, turnbuckles, windlasses, and chrome-plated surfaces. It protects all metals and alloys and is compatible with most painted and coated surfaces as well as plastic and rubber materials.
The formulation is based on paraffin oil and an organic inhibitor system and does not contain silicone. The liquid is clear and blue-green with a density of 0.83 at 20 °C. After 24 hours at 20 °C, the average film thickness is approximately 2 µm, while the maximum expected coverage is 100 m²/l. The protective film withstands up to 120 °C continuously and 150 °C intermittently.
The aerosol can features a 360° valve, allowing the product to be applied in various positions, even with the can held upside down. Apply a light and even layer for general lubrication and protection. For rusted parts, apply liberally and allow the product time to penetrate. When treating wet surfaces, spray until the run-off liquid is clear and free of visible moisture.
Electrical equipment must be de-energized during application, and the product must be used in a well-ventilated area. Before painting or other subsequent surface treatments, the protective film must be removed with a suitable solvent-based cleaner or alkaline degreaser.
