This DHR35 series navigation light is a yellow towing light with a shielded light sector of 135°. The variant is designed for side mounting on a vertical bulkhead and is supplied with a replaceable 24 V, 25 W Bay15d incandescent bulb. As a type-approved towing light, it is intended for seagoing vessels under 20 m and has a range of at least 2 nautical miles.
The lantern housing is manufactured from matte black, glass-fiber reinforced polycarbonate with an impact-resistant polycarbonate Fresnel lens. Metal parts are made of stainless steel and designed for the maritime environment. The enclosure has IP56 protection, and the documented operating temperature range is from -25 °C to +55 °C.
The light source is a conventional incandescent bulb with a vertical filament. The vertical orientation and the correct approved Bay15d bulb are part of the lantern's optical system. The lantern housing measures Ø92 mm, while the total height including the side bracket is 157 mm. The nominal luminous intensity is 40 cd.
Mounting is performed through three Ø5 mm holes with M4 fasteners. The horizontal center distance between the two upper holes is 23 mm, and the vertical center distance to the bottom hole is 19 mm. The mounting plate must be at least 3 mm thick, and stainless A4 steel fasteners must be used. The maximum tightening torque is 1.5 Nm. The cable connection is fed in from the underside through a PG9 cable gland.
The DHR35 series is developed for marine navigation and signaling purposes and is based on COLREG ’72 as well as relevant marine standards. The lantern variant can also be used as a signal light for European inland navigation, where applicable regulations allow it. The electrical insulation class is Class III.
The supplied 24 V/25 W bulb can be replaced with spare bulb item no. 14.220.01 or DHR 5/55-15. For a documented 12 V configuration, an approved 12 V/25 W Bay15d bulb is used, item no. 14.220.00 or DHR 5/55-14. The supply voltage must always match the installed bulb. The lens and housing should be cleaned with fresh water and must not be painted or cleaned with chemicals.
