This kill switch lanyard with safety clip for outboard motors is a motor-specific variant for Johnson and Evinrude engines with a 3-prong fork clip up to 1995.
The kill switch lanyard is part of the engine's emergency stop and kill switch system. When used correctly, the operator is connected to the safety stop so that the 3-prong safety clip is pulled free if the operator leaves the helm or falls overboard. This activates the engine's safety stop.
The design consists of an extendable cord with a motor-specific safety clip at one end and a carabiner for attachment to the operator at the other. The construction allows the operator to move around the helm while maintaining the connection to the engine's safety stop.
This variant is intended for Johnson/Evinrude systems with a 3-prong fork version up to 1995. It should not be confused with the version with a standard fork for engines after 1995. Please check the engine's year and the design of the existing safety clip before purchase.
For Johnson/Evinrude engines after 1995, the standard fork variant is available under part no. 14.203.03.
