This kill switch lanyard with safety key for outboard motors is designed for Johnson and Evinrude motors with a standard fork manufactured after 1995. This variant is intended for the engine's existing emergency stop switch and must be selected based on the engine manufacturer, model year, and the key design of the switch.
The safety key is inserted into the engine's emergency stop switch. If the operator moves away and the key is pulled free, the engine stop is activated. The kill switch lanyard thus helps to stop the engine in an emergency situation when used correctly and attached to the operator.
The product features an extendable, coiled lanyard that keeps the line compact during normal use. At the user end, there is a carabiner for attachment to clothing or a life jacket, for example. One engine-specific safety key with a standard fork is included.
This variant must not be confused with item no. 14.203.02, which has a 3-pronged fork for Johnson/Evinrude motors up to and including 1995. Item no. 14.203.10 is a separate universal kit with 11 different safety keys.
Always check the engine's model year and the emergency stop switch's key design before purchase. Test the emergency stop function before sailing.
