This kill switch lanyard for outboard motors is an engine-specific safety lanyard for Yamaha outboard motors from 2015 onwards. It is intended for the engine's emergency stop and features a safety key with a documented contact/key diameter of Ø 13.9 mm.
The lanyard connects the operator to the engine's kill switch. If the operator moves away from the helm, the safety key is pulled free, allowing the engine's emergency stop to be activated. The extendable line allows for freedom of movement during normal operation.
A carabiner makes it possible to attach the lanyard to the operator's clothing or safety equipment. The engine-specific key profile is intended for the 2015 Yamaha version and must not be confused with the variant for Yamaha engines up to and including 2014, which uses a different connection diameter.
Check the engine year, the safety key profile, and the diameter of the existing emergency stop switch before purchasing. The year should not be used as the sole compatibility check.
