This recessed blackout roller blind and fly screen for deck hatches from the Dometic Oceanair Skyscreen Recessed range has been developed for the Lewmar 40. The system combines a 100% blackout roller blind and a fly screen in one single unit, allowing the hatch to be used for either full shading or natural ventilation with insect protection.
The roller blind and fly screen are operated manually and pulled across the hatch opening with a magnetic closure. When both are retracted, the opening remains clear so that the normal function of the deck hatch is not obstructed. The construction is made from a pre-treated aluminium cassette with a polyester powder coating, Solar Shield White blackout material, and Skyscreen Flyscreen mesh.
This variant is intended for Lewmar 40 hatches with part numbers 19.410.40, 19.420.40, and 19.440.40. The variant-specific internal cut-out dimension is 421 × 421 mm. The guide opening dimension for the Skyscreen Recessed size 40 is 418 × 418 mm; the measurement types are not identical and should therefore be verified against the specific hatch and installation before mounting.
The system is designed for recessed, flush mounting in the cabin ceiling lining directly below the hatch. The required installation depth is 23.5 mm, while the product depth is 30.4 mm, and 39 mm including handles. The surface must be level, and the ceiling lining must not pinch or deform the unit. The illustrated mounting structure is designed for a lining thickness of 3–7 mm.
The standard colour is White RAL 9016. Beige RAL 9001 can be ordered on request as an alternative version. A flexible PVC liner is ordered separately in 2.5 m as part no. 19.809.05 or in 20 m as part no. 19.809.20. White spare handles for models produced after 2012 are available as part no. 19.899.01.
The guide rails can be lightly lubricated with silicone spray if necessary; grease and oil must not be used. Wet blind material must be pulled out and air-dried naturally, while stains can be removed with a damp cloth. During installation, screws must not be overtightened, as a deformed frame can make operation sluggish.
