This Dometic Oceanair SkyScreen Roller Surface 2 blackout blind with flyscreen is a manual, surface-mounted solution for Lewmar 44 deck hatches with an internal opening size of 442 × 442 mm. The blackout blind and flyscreen are integrated into one white, low-profile unit, which is mounted on the cabin lining around the hatch opening.
The white blind provides 100% blackout, while the integrated white flyscreen allows for ventilation through the open hatch while keeping insects out. The blind and flyscreen can be moved across the entire opening. They can also meet at an optional position, allowing part of the opening to be darkened while the rest is covered by the flyscreen. The crossbars connect magnetically for simple manual operation.
The unit is designed with a white PVC/plastic profile, rounded edges, and integrated screw covers. The profile depth is 28.5 mm, the side profiles are 40 mm wide, and the cassette/top rail height is approximately 60 mm. The 442 × 442 mm measurement refers to the internal hatch opening and not the complete external dimensions of the blind.
The blind is supplied as two cassettes and two side rails, which are assembled at the corner elements. It is mounted on a flat interior surface using four corner fixings. The installation manual recommends No. 6 × 16 mm panhead screws, which are not included, and manual tightening to avoid deforming the frame. Adhesive pads at the corners can hold the unit temporarily in place during positioning and drilling. When mounting on soft headlining, M4 plastic washers can be used as spacers; these are not included.
A flexible white PVC finishing frame can be ordered separately as item no. 19.809.05 in a 2.5 m length or 19.809.20 in a 20 m length. Both have a height of 62 mm. Spare handles for SkyScreen versions after 2012 are available separately as item no. 19.899.01.
The blind and flyscreen are assembled and function-tested before delivery. If the spring tension needs adjustment later, the adjuster is located under the top-right screw cover. The tension should be set so that the blind and screen retract smoothly without snapping hard into the cassette.
