This Dometic Oceanair Skysol Motion self-retracting pleated blind in model SMO-4 is designed for boat hatches, portholes, and smaller windows. The white version has a fabric width of 680 mm and a drop of 750 mm and can also be mounted on sloping window and hatch surfaces.
The pleated fabric is light-diffusing and creates a softer light in the saloon or cabin. The blind is UV-resistant and developed for marine interiors, while the automatic retraction folds the fabric compactly when the blind is released.
The system features a single fabric panel and is constructed without loose cords or visible guide wires. This provides an unobstructed opening when the blind is retracted. An integrated tension mechanism also reduces movement and rattling when the blind is extended, which supports use on sloping surfaces.
Profiles and brackets are made of powder-coated aluminum. The blind can be mounted with clips or brackets against a vertical surface or up under a horizontal surface. For mounting, pre-drill with a Ø 2 mm bit, and the illustrated screw size is 3.5 x 25 mm. The top rail is subsequently clicked onto the brackets, while the bottom rail can be secured in the lower hold-downs.
The self-retracting design combines simple operation with a compact pleated look. The system is designed to be child-safe and was awarded a DAME Award in 2013.
