Dometic Oceanair Skysol Motion self-retracting pleated blind in size SMO-2 is a complete blind system for boat hatches, portholes, and smaller windows. This white variant has a nominal width of 450 mm and a drop of 520 mm.
The self-retracting system automatically pulls the blind together when released, clearing the opening quickly. An integrated tensioning system reduces movement and rattling, and the blind can be used on both vertical and inclined surfaces at any angle. The design features no visible guide wires or loose operating cords.
The light-diffusing, pleated Uno Privacy fabric softens direct light and provides a softer light distribution in the cabin or saloon. The fabric is UV-resistant, while profiles and fittings are made of powder-coated aluminium for use in maritime environments. The design is also cordless and child-safe.
The nominal dimensions are 450 mm in width and 520 mm in drop. The fabric width is 444 mm, corresponding to the nominal width minus 6 mm. The top rail measures 17 mm in height and 37 mm in depth, while the bottom rail is 22 mm high. The bottom rail can be angled to allow the blind to follow simple window shapes.
SMO-2 is supplied in a standard configuration for face fixing. For installation, use Ø 2 mm pre-drilling and 3.5 × 25 mm mounting screws. The final tightening should be done manually with a screwdriver rather than power tools.
The compact blind clears the opening when retracted and is developed and tested for maritime use. Skysol Motion was a category winner at the 2013 METS DAME Awards.
