This Dometic Oceanair Skysol Motion self-retracting pleated blind for hatches and portholes has nominal fabric dimensions of 550 × 640 mm and is model SMO-3. It is intended for interior shading of portholes, small windows, and deck hatches, including windows and hatches mounted on inclined surfaces.
The manually operated pleated blind retracts automatically when released, allowing the shade to be quickly gathered at the top of the window. The design features no visible guide wires or loose control cords. The bottom rail can be tilted so that the blind can follow simple window shapes and be used at various angles of inclination.
The white, pleated fabric diffuses light and provides a softer intake of light into the cabin or saloon. The fabric is UV-resistant, while the rails and fittings are made of powder-coated aluminum. The construction is developed for the maritime environment and is child-safe.
The mounting system supports both top mounting and front/face mounting. Installation involves pre-drilling with approximately Ø 2 mm and using 3.5 × 25 mm screws for the brackets. The screws should finally be tightened with a manual screwdriver to avoid overtightening. The bottom rail can be secured with Mini Grip hold-downs.
The blind is maintained with dry cleaning, for example, gentle dusting or vacuuming. Wet cleaning and aggressive cleaning agents should be avoided. Skysol Motion was a category winner at the DAME Award 2013 for interior equipment.
