This EURO Harness boat safety harness is an adjustable personal deck safety harness for adults with a body weight of over 50 kg. It is intended for use in exposed cockpits and on working decks of recreational craft.
The harness is used in conjunction with a safety tether to limit the risk of the user falling overboard and to facilitate recovery back onto the vessel. It is not a lifejacket or other flotation device and must not be used as fall protection when working at heights.
The construction consists of soft polyester webbing and a stainless steel quick-release buckle. Separate sliding buckles on the shoulder and waist straps allow the fit to be adjusted so that the front attachment point is positioned centrally on the chest. The harness should fit snugly without being uncomfortably tight and must not be worn loosely.
The EURO Harness is category III personal protective equipment and complies with Regulation (EU) 2016/425 as well as UNI EN ISO 12401:2009. The current EU type-examination certificate is PPE-2642-23133-Cert with notified body number 0302 and is valid until October 28, 2029.
The front attachment point is connected to a safety tether certified according to ISO 12401. The safety tether and harness must only be attached to strong, suitable anchor points on the vessel. The EURO Lightline safety tether, item no. 23.156.01, is documented for use with this variant. If the harness is worn together with a lifejacket, the products must be tested together before use to ensure that the harness does not interfere with the lifejacket's function.
After use, the harness should be rinsed thoroughly with fresh water and air-dried. It should be stored in a dry, ventilated place, protected from direct sunlight and sharp objects. The harness must not be machine washed, tumble dried, modified, or repaired by the user. Webbing and stitching must be checked regularly, and both the harness and safety tether must be replaced after heavy dynamic loading. The harness has no fixed expiration date; continued use depends on its condition, inspection, and loading history.
