FIAMM Bora electro-pneumatic boat horn with compressor is a complete 12 V signal kit for boats without an existing compressed air supply. The kit consists of one TA/NR trumpet, an electric M4 compressor, and mounting materials. When the horn is activated, the compressor delivers air to the trumpet, producing a powerful, deep signal sound.
The horn has a frequency of 380 Hz and a sound pressure level of 114 dB(A) measured at 2 m. The signal can be heard up to 1,600 m away. The construction is tested for more than 50,000 activation cycles at a sequence of 1 second on and 4 seconds off, and the horn can be activated continuously for more than 3 minutes.
The trumpet is made of stainless steel and measures 385 mm in length with an opening of Ø94 mm. The compressor is made of steel, aluminum, and ABS and measures 77 × 69 × 104 mm. The complete kit weighs 1.25 kg. The trumpet has a corrosion resistance of more than 600 hours in salt spray testing.
The nominal voltage is 12 V DC with a permissible voltage range of 11.5–13.8 V DC and a current consumption of 17 A. The compressor has two 6.3 × 0.8 mm flat plug terminals. The connection is made via a relay. For a cable length of less than 1.5 m, use a 2.5 mm² single-core cable, while distances over 1.5 m require a 4 mm² or larger cable. The fuse and other electrical sizing must be checked against the current installation instructions.
The horn and compressor must be mounted on a rigid surface. The trumpet opening should be positioned approximately 5° downwards so that water can drain out. The compressor should be mounted in a ventilated area protected from mud splashes, while the horn should be placed protected from water spray. The operating temperature is −30 °C to +80 °C.
