Double electro-pneumatic boat horn with compressor from FIAMM is a complete 12 V DC signaling system for acoustic signaling on boats and smaller vessels. The kit consists of a TA DUAL horn with two trumpets and a separate M4 electric compressor.
The two air-operated horns simultaneously emit a low tone of 320 Hz and a high tone of 380 Hz. This provides a clear dual-tone sound with a sound pressure level of 123 dB(A) measured at a distance of 1 meter. The horn's operating pressure is 1–4 bar, and the air consumption is 2.4 l/s.
The trumpets are made of stainless steel and have individual lengths of 37 and 43 cm. The total horn assembly has a maximum axial dimension of 430 mm, a dimension of 94 mm at the individual horn bell, and an outer dimension of 172 mm across both horn bells. The construction has been tested for more than 600 hours of salt spray and more than 50,000 activation cycles.
The included FIAMM M4 compressor is designed for 12 V DC and operates within 11.5–13.8 V DC. It consumes 17 A, produces 1.2 bar, and delivers an airflow of 80 l/min. The compressor measures 104 mm in height and 69 mm in diameter, with a maximum cross-dimension of 77 mm including projections. It is made of steel, aluminum, and ABS.
The horn and compressor use a proven 7 × 10.5 mm hose connection. The horn bracket must be mounted on a flat, rigid surface and placed protected from mud splashes. The compressor must likewise be mounted on a flat and rigid surface in a ventilated position, away from direct and indirect heat sources and protected from water jets and mud.
The system is intended for operation from –30 °C to +80 °C and at 30–80% relative humidity. The compressor is tested for more than 480 hours of salt spray, more than 50,000 activation cycles, and has electrical insulation at 500 V DC. It is specified for more than 3 minutes of continuous operation, which is the relevant continuous operation limit for the entire kit.
