This FIAMM Ponente dual air horn with compressor is an electro-pneumatic signal horn for boats with a 24 V DC system. The set consists of two stainless steel horns and an electric FIAMM M4 compressor that supplies compressed air to the horns.
The two horns emit a low tone of 320 Hz and a high tone of 380 Hz, respectively. The sound pressure is 123 dB(A) measured at 1 m, which provides a clear acoustic signal. The horns are 370 and 430 mm long, have a bell diameter of Ø94 mm, and a total width of 172 mm at the bells.
The horn component is the FIAMM TA DUAL with manufacturer reference 920336. It is made of stainless steel, operates at 100–400 kPa, and has an air consumption of 2.4 l/s. The construction has passed over 600 hours of salt spray testing as well as a durability test of more than 50,000 cycles at 1 second activated and 4 seconds off.
The included FIAMM M4 compressor, manufacturer reference 921989, is the variant-specific 24 V model. It operates within 23–27.6 V DC, uses 8 A, and delivers 1.2 bar with an air output of 80 l/min. The compressor is connected to the horns with tubing or hose of 7 × 10.5 mm dimensions.
The horn and compressor are intended for operation from −30 °C to +80 °C. The compressor is made of steel, aluminum, and ABS and is product-compliant with ECE Regulation No. 10 and CEE 2009/19 regarding electromagnetic compatibility.
The horn bracket and compressor must be mounted on flat, rigid surfaces. The compressor must be placed in a ventilated area, away from direct and indirect heat sources, and protected against water and mud spray. The horns should also be positioned to be protected from mud splashes. The product replaces the former item no. 21.468.24.
