This Finder surface-mount compass 2 5/8″ is a direct-reading magnetic marine compass for fixed installation on a flat, horizontal surface. This variant features a white housing, a blue compass card, and a red lubber line, which makes it easy to read the boat's heading from the helm.
The visible compass card has a diameter of 67 mm, corresponding to 2 5/8″, and is divided into 5° intervals. The compass is gimbal-mounted and can operate at a tilt of up to 30°. The construction is also suitable for use at high speeds.
The housing is made of ABS plastic and measures Ø 97 mm with a height of 73 mm. This surface-mount variant is installed on top of the surface and does not have built-in compensators or lighting.
The compass should be positioned so that it can be read clearly from the helm. Keep at least 300 mm distance from metal objects, electrical equipment, and wiring that can cause magnetic deviation. Use non-magnetic fasteners and check the compass against known magnetic courses after installation.
Salt spray can be removed with a soft, clean cloth. Do not use petroleum-based solvents on the housing. At low temperatures, a small air bubble may appear in the compass liquid; this usually disappears again when the temperature rises.
