Description

Garmin Compact Reactor™ 40 Hydraulic Autopilot – Starter Kit

The perfect basic autopilot system

  • Includes Compact Reactor 40 CCU, ECU, pump and other autopilot components needed to add it to your compatible chartplotter
  • Recommended only for boats with single outboard motor under 9 meters (30 feet) 1
  • 9-axis solid-state AHRS (Attitude Heading Reference System)
  • Minimizes direction errors, course deviations, rudder movements and power consumption while providing a comfortable sailing experience
  • Minimal commissioning and calibration

Designed for boats under 30 feet (9 meters) in length, the Compact Reactor 40 hydraulic marine autopilot relieves you of the need to manually hold the helm to maintain course at moderate to high speeds. 1 Sit back at the helm and enjoy your time on the water while the robust 9-axis AHRS technology provides a comfortable ride.

Available in 3 different equipment packages, this autopilot lets you configure your autopilot based on the features you need and how much you're willing to sacrifice. Purchase the starter package (compatible chartplotter required 2 ), add a GHC 20 marine autopilot controller, or add both a GHC 20 and Shadow Drive .

The autopilot is easy to install with flexible mounting options and quick, easy commissioning. Choose a package with our patented Shadow Drive technology and simply turn the helm to take control of your boat. Maintain a steady course to re-engage the equipment. It can be integrated with compatible Garmin electronics to control the autopilot from your chartplotter display. And it can be enabled to follow an Auto Guidance 3 route (requires BlueChart ® g3).

9-axis solid-state AHRS

With its advanced, robust, 9-axis AHRS, the Compact Reactor 40 gives you more flexible mounting options. In addition, this new system significantly reduces heading errors, course deviations, rudder movement and power consumption, providing a comfortable sailing experience for everyone on board.

Responds to given conditions

This amazing autopilot actually responds to sea conditions to keep you on course. Even when the boat is pitching and rolling, you can trust the Reactor 40 autopilot to keep you on the desired course.

Minimal start-up adjustment and calibration

All autopilots require initial adjustment and calibration – without exception. We know you want to just get out on the water, so we made this process as quick and easy as possible. The Power of Simple.

Full integration with Garmin electronics

When combined with our compatible network electronics, you have complete control of the Compact Reactor 40 from anywhere on your boat. In addition to staying on course in virtually any weather and wind, the system can easily execute a variety of pre-programmed trolling and searching routines. And with BlueChart g2 Vision HD charts (sold separately), you get features like Auto Guidance 3 , which automatically steers GPS routes.

Stay in control with Shadow Drive technology

The Compact Reactor 40 supports the patented Shadow Drive technology (optional). You gain peace of mind knowing that you are always in control, even when the autopilot is engaged. The Shadow Drive system automatically disengages the autopilot if the rudder is turned, giving you the freedom to maneuver the boat. The autopilot automatically re-engages when you maintain a fixed course.

Connect to network devices

The Compact Reactor 40 can be operated directly from your compatible Garmin chartplotter display 1 or by using up to 3 GHC helm controllers. GHC communicates with the autopilot system via your NMEA 2000® network, allowing heading data from the autopilot to be easily shared with other devices. This allows for MARPA and chart overlay when connected to a Garmin radar and chartplotter. An optional handheld wireless remote is also available.
