The Garmin GPSMAP® 8700 Black Box gives you the same powerful performance as an advanced MFD – just without a built-in screen. The system integrates with Garmin displays or compatible third-party touchscreens and gives you full control over sonar, radar, autopilot, engine data, networking, and much more directly from the cockpit.
The black box is designed for serious sailors, yacht owners, sport fishermen, and commercial vessels that want a flexible system that can be expanded as needed. With support for Panoptix™ and Panoptix LiveScope™, GSD™ CHIRP sonar modules, and Ultra HD ClearVü and SideVü scanning sonar, you get an extremely detailed view under the boat (transducers sold separately).
The GPSMAP® 8700 can control a complete marine system via the Garmin Marine Network and NMEA 2000®. You can connect radar, cameras, audio via FUSION-Link, autopilot, digital switching (OneHelm™), and even sync user data between multiple helm stations. The system also supports the ActiveCaptain® app for updates, smart notifications, and chart sharing.
Connect an external Garmin GPS 24xd receiver (optional) for lightning-fast position updates 10 times per second – perfect for precise navigation, trolling, harbor maneuvers, and fast powerboats. With an external Garmin card reader (optional), you get access to 2x SD cards with support for BlueChart® g3, BlueChart® g3 Vision, as well as Auto Guidance™* features.
