Description
Garmin Reactor™ 40 mechanical/retrofit/magnetic coil corepack
Our most responsive autopilot system on the water
- 9-axis solid-state AHRS (Attitude Heading Reference System)
- Minimizes direction errors, course deviations, rudder movements and power consumption while providing a comfortable sailing experience
- Minimal commissioning and calibration
- Supports heading hold, wind hold, incremental turns, and tack/bounce functions
With a complete package designed for powerboats and sailboats, Garmin is making advanced marine technology available to recreational boaters that was previously only available to commercial boats. The Reactor 40 autopilot series is simply the most responsive autopilot system we've ever offered.
Reactor 40 autopilots are highly versatile. Powerboat and sailboat features are available in all core packs, including course hold, wind hold, tack/beam, step turns and more. Simply select the autopilot that is compatible with your existing steering system. If you don’t see a compatible Reactor 40, you’ll find that the Reactor 40 Mechanical/Retrofit/Solenoid is compatible with a wide range of steering systems, including hydraulic, cable-operated, mechanical and solenoid-operated. Simply pair the GRF™ 10 with the drive system already on board.
The Reactor 40 mechanical/retrofit/solenoid autopilot corepack is perfect for sailboats and powerboats with direct or cable-actuated steering systems. This Reactor 40 cockpit autopilot system gives captains the "extra set of hands" they need so you can confidently maintain sails, lines, winches and radios without worry. With its 9-axis solid-state AHRS, the Reactor 40 can be mounted anywhere, in any orientation, and requires minimal start-up adjustment.
9-axis solid-state AHRS
With the advanced 9-axis solid-state AHRS, you can mount the Reactor 40 virtually anywhere and in any orientation. In addition, this new system significantly reduces heading errors, course deviations, rudder movement and power consumption, providing a comfortable sailing experience for everyone on board.
Responds to sea conditions
This amazing autopilot actually responds to sea conditions to keep you on course. Even when the boat is pitching and rolling, you can trust the Reactor 40 autopilot to keep you on the desired course.
Minimal start-up adjustment and calibration
All autopilots require initial adjustment and calibration – without exception. We know you want to just get out on the water, so we made this process as quick and easy as possible. The Power of Simple.
Full integration with Garmin chartplotters
When paired with our compatible network chartplotter, you have complete control of the Reactor 40 from anywhere on your boat. In addition to staying on course in virtually any weather, the system can easily execute a variety of pre-programmed trolling and searching routines. And with a compatible Garmin network chartplotter and BlueChart® g2 Vision® charts (sold separately), you get additional features like Auto Guidance 1 , which automatically steers GPS courses.
Stay in control with Shadow Drive technology
For hydraulic installations, the Reactor 40 mechanical/retrofit/solenoid autopilot can add optional patented Shadow Drive technology. You gain peace of mind knowing that you are always in control, even when the autopilot is engaged. The Shadow Drive system automatically disengages the autopilot if the rudder is turned, giving you the freedom to maneuver the boat. The autopilot automatically reengages when you maintain a set course.
Choose between drives in 3 classes
The Reactor 40 is available with 3 linear drives (sold separately) that can control a variety of steering systems on most mid- to large-sized sailboats (depending on the specific installation). All Garmin linear drives have built-in rudder feedback detection.
- Class A Control Unit – For displacement hulls up to 28,500 lbs (13 tons)
- Class B Compact Control Unit – For displacement hulls up to 48,400 lbs (22 tons)
- Class B Control Unit – For displacement hulls up to 79,000 lbs (35.8 tons)
Connect to network devices
The Reactor 40 autopilot is operated using up to 3 GHC™ controllers. The GHC communicates with the autopilot system via your NMEA 2000® network, allowing heading data from the autopilot to be easily shared with other devices. This allows for MARPA and chart overlay when connected to a Garmin chartplotter. An optional handheld wireless remote is also available, but for the ultimate in convenience, control the GHC with a compatible quatix® or quatix 5 marine multisport smartwatch.
Get even more peace of mind
Add an optional GRF 10 rudder feedback sensor and you'll get even better performance out of your Reactor 40 autopilot.
