This rearming kit for automatically inflatable life-saving equipment contains a 38g CO₂ cartridge and a UML Pro Sensor Elite inflator. The kit is used to ready a compatible automatic life jacket for use again after deployment or in connection with the scheduled replacement of the inflator cap.
The UML Pro Sensor Elite is a water-activated automatic inflation system with a manual emergency pull cord as a backup. Upon contact with water, the paper element in the cap dissolves, after which a spring drives a firing pin forward to pierce the CO₂ cartridge. Automatic activation typically occurs within approximately 3 seconds of immersion.
The inflator has separate status indicators that show whether the CO₂ cartridge is correctly installed and unused, and whether the automatic cap is correctly installed and has not already been activated. The system is only ready for operation when both status indicators show full green, the cartridge is hand-tightened correctly, the cap replacement date has not been exceeded, and the water entry point to the inflator is unobstructed.
The kit is documented for the automatic 180 N life jacket with item no. 22.397.00, provided the vest was produced from May 2019 onwards. The designation "universal spare valve kit" does not mean that the kit fits all inflatable life jackets. The life jacket must be designed for the UML Pro Sensor Elite and a 38g CO₂ cartridge.
When rearming, the life jacket must be dry. The used cap and the pierced cartridge are replaced, the CO₂ cartridge seal is checked, and the new parts are hand-tightened. If the vest was triggered manually, the inflation lever must be returned to its original position until it clicks into place. After installation, both status indicators must show green, and the vest must be packed according to the manufacturer's instructions.
The Pro Sensor Elite spare cap has the manufacturer reference UMA8050 and a documented temperature range of −30 °C to +70 °C. The component is approved according to EN ISO 12402-7:2020. For recreational use, replacement is recommended every two years or before the cap's printed "Replace By" date, whichever comes first. For professional use, annual replacement is recommended. The kit should be stored in a cool, dry place protected from direct sunlight.
Always check the life jacket's model, production date, inflation system, and required cartridge size before purchase.
