Recharge kit for automatically inflatable safety equipment with a 60 g CO₂ cartridge and UML-5 activation component. The kit is used for recharging after activation and is documented for MOB equipment, Dan Buoy, and similar equipment that requires a 60 g cartridge and a UML-5/MK5 compatible activation system.
UML-5/MK5 is an automatic, water-activated system. When the complete inflator system is submerged, the automatic cartridge element reacts to water and triggers the mechanism, which punctures the CO₂ cartridge. Automatic activation normally occurs within approximately three seconds. A complete MK5 inflator system also supports manual emergency activation via a pull cord; this kit is not documented as a complete inflator housing with a pull cord.
The recharge kit is documented for the self-inflating Dan Buoy MOB system with item no. 22.422.00. It must only be used when the equipment is designed for UML-5/MK5 and the correct cartridge size is 60 g. It is not documented as universally compatible with all inflatable life jackets or other inflatable safety systems.
The equipment must be dry before recharging. Check that the CO₂ cartridge is full and unpunctured, that it is tightened correctly by hand, and that the printed expiration date of the automatic cartridge has not passed. A punctured cylinder and an activated automatic cartridge must be replaced. For recreational use, it is recommended to replace the automatic cartridge every two years or at the latest by the indicated expiration date; for professional use, annual replacement is recommended. The equipment's own manual and service intervals always take precedence. The UML MK5 activation component is approved according to CEN/ISO 12402-7, but this is not an independent certification of the entire kit.
