This rearming kit for inflatable life jackets contains a 38g CO₂ cylinder and a UML-5 inflator kit. It is intended for rearming and reactivating a compatible automatic life jacket after deployment or during servicing.
The kit is certified for 180 N automatic use and fits life jacket item no. 22.397.00, when the life jacket was produced up to and including April 2019. Life jackets produced from May 2019 onwards use a different inflation system, so the cylinder weight, inflator model, and production period must always be checked before ordering.
The UML-5 system supports automatic activation upon contact with water, as well as manual activation as a backup function. Upon automatic activation, a water-sensitive paper element releases a spring, after which the mechanism punctures the CO₂ cylinder. Activation typically occurs within approximately three seconds of immersion.
The inflator system has dual status indicators. Both the automatic and manual indicators must show green before the system is ready for use; a red indicator means that the life jacket must not be used. At the same time, check that the CO₂ cylinder is not punctured, that it is correctly hand-tightened, and that the automatic cartridge has not exceeded the printed expiry date.
For private use, it is recommended that the inflator cartridge be replaced every two years from the date of purchase or before the printed expiry date, whichever comes first. For professional or commercial use, annual replacement is recommended. Always follow the life jacket's own service manual if it specifies shorter intervals.
