This RG58ALL low-loss coaxial cable for marine VHF antennas is the Glomex RA152 in a 100 m reel. The cable has an impedance of 50 ± 2 Ω and is intended for the signal connection between the VHF radio and the antenna, including long cable runs for antennas mounted at the masthead of sailboats.
The low-loss construction limits signal loss and signal distortion over long cable runs. The attenuation at 20 °C is 8.3 dB/100 m at 50 MHz, 11.3 dB/100 m at 100 MHz, 15.9 dB/100 m at 200 MHz, 23.8 dB/100 m at 400 MHz, 38.1 dB/100 m at 860 MHz, and 42.9 dB/100 m at 1,000 MHz. The velocity factor is 78%, and the capacitance is 82 pF/m.
The inner conductor consists of 19 strands of 0.18 mm tinned copper. The expanded PEE dielectric has a diameter of 2.95 mm, while the shield is constructed as AL3 + CU ST with aluminum tape, aluminum, and copper. The shield has 100% coverage, a shielding attenuation of over 50 dB in the 100–900 MHz range, and a structural return loss of over 20 dB in the 30–300 MHz and 300–900 MHz ranges.
The white outer jacket is made of PVC, and the outer diameter of the cable is 5.0 mm. The minimum bending radius is 50 mm, which must be respected when routing through the boat and the mast. The conductor resistance is 38 Ω/km for the inner conductor and 18 Ω/km for the outer conductor, while the maximum voltage rating is 1,000 V.
The cable is supplied without documented factory-fitted connectors and can therefore be adapted to the required length and connections of the installation. Documented accessories include Glomex RA132GOLD, RA132, and RA132SOLDERLESS PL-259 male connectors for RG58/U as well as the Glomex RA140 cable gland.
