This GOK 8 mm compression fitting for gas installations is designed as a 90° elbow fitting for connecting two pipes with an 8 mm outer diameter. The elbow provides a controlled change of direction in the gas piping without the use of hose nozzles or a standard threaded union.
Both connections are RVS 8 compression fittings in the L series. The connection principle is based on a union nut and a cutting ring, which is compressed around the pipe. The union nut for RVS 8 in the L series has an M14 × 1.5 internal thread and a 17 mm wrench size.
The fitting body is manufactured from steel with a chrome-VI-free, zinc-plated surface protection. The design is a W-type elbow fitting according to DIN 8434-1 and EN ISO 8434-1 – EC. The product group is DVGW-type-approved according to DIN 3387-1.
The fitting can be used with compatible 8 mm pipes, including copper pipes as well as relevant precision steel, brass, and stainless steel pipes. The specific combination of pipe, cutting ring, and any necessary reinforcement sleeve must be selected correctly. For soft or thin-walled pipes, such as copper or aluminum, a suitable reinforcement sleeve must be used.
During installation, the pipe must be sawn at a right angle with a maximum angular deviation of 0.5°. The pipe end must be lightly deburred on the inside and outside, cleaned, and may have a maximum bevel of 0.2 × 45°. Pipe cutters and angle grinders should not be used for preparation, as incorrect sawing or deburring can reduce the tightness and service life of the connection.
The fitting can be connected to the smooth 8 mm pipe end on pipes with item no. 50.013.25, 50.013.26, and 50.013.27. A spare brass cutting ring for 8 mm copper pipe is available as item no. 50.013.97, while a brass nut with M14 × 1.5 internal thread is available as item no. 50.013.98. The cutting ring must be replaced every time the pipe is changed.
