Brass cutting ring for copper pipe fittings from GOK is a D-MS spare part in the L series for cutting ring unions and copper pipes with an 8 mm outer diameter. The pack contains 5 cutting rings in a display blister.
When tightened, the cutting ring is driven against the 24° internal cone of the fitting. The cutting edge grips the pipe and forms a visible collar in front of the ring, supporting the pipe and sealing the complete union. The cutting ring must be replaced every time the pipe is replaced.
The cutting ring is made of brass and classified as type D-MS according to DIN 3861, form A-MS. It is part of cutting ring systems according to EN ISO 8434-1, DIN 2353, and DIN 3859-1 and can be used for copper and copper alloy pipes. The RVS 8 × RVS 8 pipes with part no. 50.013.71 and 50.013.72 are relevant pipe references for the 8 mm system.
For assembly, the union nut and then the cutting ring are slid over the pipe with the cutting edge facing the pipe end. The pipe must be cut square and inserted as far as it will go into the fitting connector. For initial assembly, tighten the union nut approximately 1½ turns after hand-tightening, while holding the fitting connector steady with another wrench. A suitable reinforcing sleeve must be used for copper or aluminum pipes.
Pressure and temperature limits are determined by the complete union, the pipe material, and the specific installation and are not an independent rating of the loose cutting ring. For complete brass unions in series L with pipe diameters of 6–15 mm, the system data is up to 160 bar and −40 °C to +175 °C. When installed in steel unions and for gas installations, lower limits apply depending on the application.
