This GUIDI stainless steel filter basket for Mediterraneo water filters is a removable spare part for filters sized G 3/8″–1/2″. The basket retains impurities and foreign objects in the intake seawater before the water is passed on to the connected system.
The filter basket is made of AISI 316L stainless steel for marine installations. The material is suitable for use in seawater and has high resistance to corrosion. The basket has a diameter of 57 mm, a height of 117 mm, and an H1 measurement of 82 mm.
The spare part fits GUIDI Mediterraneo filters in the 1162, 3162, 1163, and 3163 series with sizes G 3/8″ and G 1/2″. It is compatible with, among others, water filters with item no. 17.654.00 and 17.654.01, as well as filter codes 1162-220003, 1162-220004, 1163-220003, and 1163-220004. Mediterraneo filters are used in seawater and raw water systems, where they protect engine cooling circuits, generators, and air conditioning systems, among others, against impurities in the water intake. The filter basket is not intended as a pre-filter in a fuel system.
The basket should be checked regularly, as clogging and fouling can reduce the filter's flow. It can be cleaned with water and compressed air, and stubborn deposits can be removed carefully with suitable tools.
Before cleaning or replacement, the engine must be stopped and the sea valves closed. After reassembly, check the filter lid, screws, washers, and gaskets before opening the sea valves again. Corrosion on the basket may be a sign of galvanic problems, which require checking the installation's grounding and cathodic protection.
