This GUIDI Ionio raw water filter with polycarbonate lid is a compact raw water filter in the Ionio 1164 series with 1¼" parallel G-pipe threads. The filter removes impurities from intake water before it is fed to, for example, the engine's heat exchanger, a generator, or an air conditioning system.
The filter is designed as a cup model with one connection at the bottom and one on the side. The water is thus routed through the filter in a 90° configuration from bottom to side. The design is suitable for installations with limited space, including engine rooms on pleasure craft and workboats.
The housing is made of nickel-plated bronze, while the transparent polycarbonate lid allows for visual inspection of the filter element. The filter element is made of corrosion-resistant AISI 316L stainless steel, and the seals are made of neoprene. The design is patented.
The connections have G 1¼" BSPP threads according to ISO 228/1. The product's drawing dimensions are L 167 mm, H 168 mm, H1 106 mm, and L1 85 mm. Mounting dimension A is 40 mm, and the mounting hole has a diameter of 8.5 mm.
With a clean filter element, the flow is 12,100 l/h at 0.1 bar pressure loss and 38,200 l/h at 1 bar pressure loss. The filter is intended for intake and cooling water systems and must not be used as a pre-filter for diesel or gasoline. It is also not approved for fire extinguishing systems or flammable liquids. For installation, a complete bronze system with a raw water intake, valve, fittings, and thru-hull fitting is recommended to limit the risk of galvanic corrosion between different metals.
The filter series is covered by RINA DIP type approval and Lloyd’s Register type approval. A directly compatible stainless steel filter basket is available as a spare part with item no. 17.646.01 and manufacturer no. KIT1164.000007. For the 1¼" variant, there is also a polycarbonate lid KIT1162DI007, bronze locking ring KIT1162AN007, NBR profile KIT1164GU007, air vent kit KIT1162SDI.007, and HDPE filter basket KIT51164CEP007.
