Guidi Mediterraneo 316 stainless steel replacement filter basket is a removable filter insert for Mediterraneo seawater strainers with a connection size of G 3/4" or G 1". The basket collects impurities from the incoming seawater before the water is circulated further into the installation. This is a spare part and not a complete water filter.
The cylindrical filter basket is made of 316 stainless steel and features a handle that makes it easier to lift out of the filter housing for inspection and cleaning. The basket has an outer diameter of 87 mm and a basket height of 77 mm. The total height including the handle is 121 mm.
The replacement filter basket fits the complete Guidi Mediterraneo filters with item no. 17.654.02 in G 3/4" and 17.654.03 in G 1". The Guidi manufacturer number is KIT1162CE006, and the insert is also documented for the Mediterraneo series 1162, 1163, 3162, and 3163 in the corresponding sizes. Relevant Guidi filter references include 1162.220005 for G 3/4" and 1162.220006 for G 1".
The filter insert is intended for saltwater and marine raw water installations, such as seawater supply for engine heat exchangers, generators, or marine air conditioning systems. The Mediterraneo series is not intended as a pre-filter in a fuel system.
The basket can be reused and serviced by removing it and cleaning it with water and compressed air. Regular checks for fouling, dirt, and plastic debris are important, as a clogged filter basket reduces the performance of the water filter. At the same time, check the filter's gaskets and O-rings before reinserting the basket.
During service, the seawater intake valve must be closed, and the engine or the connected system must be shut down. The filter cover must be closed and tightened correctly before opening the valve again, especially when the filter is mounted below the waterline. Visible corrosion on the basket may be a sign of galvanic currents or insufficient grounding in the installation.
