This hydronic cabin heater from Heater Craft is a 24 V model 300-H for water-based heating of the boat's cabin. The heater utilizes the engine's hot cooling water and transfers the energy to the cabin air through a heat exchanger with an electric fan. It is therefore not an independent fuel or electric heater.
The nominal heat output is 40,000 BTU/h, equivalent to approx. 11.72 kW, measured at a water flow of 11 l/min., a water temperature of 76 °C, and an ambient temperature of 15 °C. The dual centrifugal fan has three speeds with a power consumption of 4.4 A, 5.8 A, and 8.4 A, respectively. The included panel switch has four positions for off as well as the three fan settings.
Warm air is distributed through three Ø75 mm air ducts to three separate, adjustable air vents. The kit contains the heater, mounting brackets, panel switch, 5.4 m of flexible Ø75 mm air ducting, three adjustable air vents, electrical cable, mounting screws, and other necessary mounting parts included in the set.
The housing is made of marine-grade 5052 aluminum and has a powder-coated surface. The heater itself measures 406 mm in width, 163 mm in height, and 237 mm in depth. The cooling water connection is designed for a 5/8" hose.
The heater is intended for concealed mounting, for example under the helm station or in a storage compartment, from which the air hoses can be routed to the desired areas. The heat exchanger should be mounted horizontally as far as possible and must not be placed in the bilge or draw air from the bilge area. The hoses must be protected against kinks, sharp edges, moving parts, and hot engine components.
The unit can be connected to the engine's closed cooling water circuit or a suitable separate hot water circuit. If the heater is mounted more than approx. 46 cm above the engine, or if the hose run between the engine and the heater exceeds approx. 4.6 m, an additional circulation pump or venting may be necessary. In raw-water-cooled systems, the heater and hoses must be drained before frost; the pressure during blow-out must not exceed 35 psi. A Y-piece for Ø75 mm ducting is available as item no. 50.263.06, an adjustable air vent as item no. 50.263.08, and Ø75 mm air ducting in a 12 m roll as item no. 50.263.11.
