UV-resistant, heat-shrinkable PE film for boat covering is intended for the temporary protection of boats and other vessels during lay-up, winter storage, and transport. The film provides protection against dirt, minor impacts and shocks, as well as high temperatures and environmental influences.
The film is made of white polyethylene with a special UV-stabilizing additive, which provides a guaranteed UV resistance of 12 months. It is supplied as a center-folded or gusseted roll and is tailored to the individual vessel. The film is laid out from bow to stern, shaped around the structure, and heated in a controlled manner with a suitable heat gun so that it shrinks to form a tight, custom-fit cover. The product is raw film on a roll and not a ready-made, model-specific boat cover.
The available variants have unfolded widths of 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, or 16 m, a roll length of 50 m, and a nominal thickness of 0.20 mm / 200 µm. The folded roll heights are approximately 1.5/1.6 m, 1 m, 1.25 m, 1.5 m, 1.75 m, and 2 m, respectively. The approximate roll weights range from 62 to 161 kg depending on the variant.
The material complies with EN 13207:2001, durability class S1. The average thickness tolerance is ±5%, point thickness tolerance ±20%, width tolerance ±2%, and length tolerance 0/+2%. The tensile stress at break is at least 17 MPa, elongation at break at least 400%, and impact resistance at least 400 cN for flat film and at least 300 cN at the fold. Testing follows ISO 4592, ISO 4593, ISO 527-3, and ISO 7765-1 method A. EN 13207 is a material standard and not a marine classification.
For shrinking, the Rafale Black Edition+ propane heat gun 46.177.00 can be used in combination with a regulator suitable for the country of use. PE tape 46.186.00 or 46.186.01 can be used for assembly, sealing, and repair. Access door 46.187.01 as well as ventilation products 46.188.01 and 46.188.02 can be integrated as needed and are not included.
