This interference filter for marine electronics is installed in the 12 V DC supply line for sensitive electronic equipment. It is intended for devices including fish finders, GPS, plotters, chartplotters, and radiotelephones with a total load of no more than 5 A or 60 W.
The filter suppresses electrical interference from the boat's generator and high-power equipment such as anchor winches and radar. At the same time, it protects the connected instrument against power surges and electrical transients. The response time is 5 nanoseconds, the peak current is 4,500 A, and the dissipatable energy is 45 J.
The unit is inserted into the supply line immediately before the instrument to be protected. The input side is connected to the boat's 12 V supply, while the output side is connected to the instrument. The black module has four external spade terminals divided into a polarized input pair and a polarized output pair.
The housing is marked with INPUT and OUTPUT as well as plus and minus signs on both sides. The mounting direction and DC polarity must therefore be observed during installation. The filter is only rated for 12 V DC and must not be loaded with more than 5 A or 60 W.
