This Isotherm BI36 top-loading built-in refrigerator box is a compressor-driven cooling solution with a capacity of 35.5 liters. It is designed for integration into marine and vehicle installations using 12 or 24 V DC, where top access and compact installation dimensions are advantageous.
The BI36 features a fully removable lid and a mechanical thermostat. The insulated lid is equipped with a sealing gasket, and the top-loading design allows the refrigerator box to be integrated into a countertop, bench, or other horizontal surface. The cooling system uses a SECOP compressor and is designed as a closed system that does not require standard refrigerant refilling.
The power consumption during compressor operation is 72 W, while the average energy consumption is 260 Wh per 24 hours, measured at an internal temperature of +5 °C and an ambient temperature of 25 °C. A 15 A fuse is recommended for 12 V and 7.5 A for 24 V. For cable installation, a minimum of 2.5 mm² can be used up to 2.5 m at 12 V or 5 m at 24 V, 4 mm² up to 4 or 8 m, 6 mm² up to 6 or 12 m, and 10 mm² up to 10 or 20 m.
The refrigerator box must be mounted horizontally and secured with at least two fastening points. The variant-specific dimension string is 438 × 556 + 125 × 240 mm, and 130 mm must be allocated for the remote compressor. The compressor can be placed separately within the reach of the supplied hoses but must always stand with the rubber feet facing downwards. Recommended clearance is 20 mm on sides without the compressor and 50 mm on the side with the compressor.
The compressor and condenser unit must have adequate ventilation so that warm air can escape upwards. The unit must be mounted in a dry area, protected from rain and water splashes, and kept away from gas and LPG cylinders. The compressor can operate at inclinations of up to 30°, but the product must be secured against sliding or tipping during heavy seas and sudden movements.
Built-in low-voltage protection switches off the compressor at 9.6 V in a 12 V system or 21.3 V in a 24 V system and restarts at 10.9 and 22.7 V, respectively. The refrigerator box is CE-marked and meets relevant EMC requirements. Defrosting is recommended when frost accumulation reaches approximately 3-4 mm, and the condenser should be kept free of dust regularly.
