Description
Hot water from the engine is led via cooling fins into the defroster, which in turn has a fan that sucks in cold air, blows it past the fins, which are heated by the cooling water to the engine, and via hoses to exhaust nozzles in the boat. As long as the engine is running, hot air is blown. When the engine stops, the fan will still blow, but within a short time it will be as cold as the rest of the air on board. Only used on engines with fresh water cooling, as salt water cooled engines have too low a working temperature.
