This Isotherm box evaporator for refrigerators up to 150 l, model S3, is a separate evaporator component for a modular marine refrigeration system. It is sized for an insulated refrigerator compartment of up to 150 l or a freezer compartment of up to 50 l at −12 °C.
The evaporator has a closed, O-shaped design with product dimensions of 320 × 230 × 100 mm. The box shape can form a smaller internal freezer compartment when the evaporator is fitted with a suitable front or door.
Quick-release couplings for the cooling circuit and a thermostat are included. A complete installation requires both a separate cooling unit and an evaporator. The documented matching cooling unit for this variant has item no. 50.932.00.
The evaporator should be placed as high as possible in the refrigerator compartment and preferably mounted horizontally. A Ø30 mm through-hole is used for routing flexible pipes and couplings through the refrigerator wall and any bulkheads. The thermostat housing can be mounted inside or outside the refrigerator compartment but must be placed in a dry location protected from damage.
When assembling the quick-release couplings, the thin capillary tube is connected first. The fixed coupling part is held steady while the union nut is turned, and final tightening is performed using 21 mm and 24 mm open-end wrenches. Protective caps should be saved so that the couplings can be closed immediately in the event of later disconnection.
