This Isotherm plate evaporator is designed for building a separate marine refrigeration or freezing system. The flat evaporator measures 1000 × 270 mm and is dimensioned for refrigerators up to 260 l or freezers up to 86 l at -12 °C.
The evaporator is combined with the matching cooling unit 50.932.02 with BD50F compressor. A complete cooling system consists of a separate compressor/cooling unit and an evaporator, which is mounted inside the insulated cooling compartment.
The plate evaporator is supplied with a thermostat, mounting kit, and Parker 5450 quick-release couplings. The quick-release couplings allow the evaporator to be connected to the compressor unit's cooling circuit. The protective caps should be kept and reinstalled immediately if the couplings are disconnected, so that impurities do not enter the system.
The evaporator should be mounted as high as possible and over the largest possible part of the cooling compartment's vertical wall. When used as a freezer, it should cover at least two sides if possible to ensure a more uniform temperature distribution. The hoses must not be pinched or kinked, and excess hose should be carefully coiled in a spiral with a diameter of approximately 30 cm to limit vibration and noise.
The thermostat can be placed inside or outside the cooling compartment. The position of the sensor on a large flat evaporator affects the temperature regulation; mounting at the top rather than the bottom edge can result in a difference of up to approximately 5 °C at the same thermostat setting.
Flat evaporators can be adapted to the shape of the cooling compartment by controlled bending, but bending must only be carried out in the specified bending zones and according to the relevant installation instructions so that the cooling channels are not damaged.
